Background Information about The Postman Art
Introduction
The Brighton-based art collective The Postman Art was born from the city’s vibrant street art scene. Drawing on their roots in design and graffiti, the duo began collaborating as The Postman Art in 2018. Using street art techniques like spray painting and stencils, as well as collage and digital media, they quickly amassed a following through word-of-mouth and social media. Their vivid pop-art murals have since appeared in cities all over the world.
The masked duo choose to remain anonymous, allowing their art to speak for itself. They consider their works additions to the ever-changing “urban canvas”. In just 5 years, their art has gained the attention of legendary photographers David LaChapelle and David Hogan and resulted in artistic collaborations with Noel Gallagher and the Marley family.
These cut-outs feature some of the Postman’s most iconic and recognizable murals, reinterpreted as stamp-shaped wall art.
Central to their vision is the power of art as a collective experience and social good, for all to enjoy. The collective remain firmly committed to their local roots and charitable ideals. In 2022, they collaborated with local artists to raise funds for a Brighton homeless food delivery service, while their 2021 mural series Guardians of York paid homage to local healthcare, charity and frontline workers who kept the city running during the COVID-19 pandemic.
